Guide To Killing Green Dragons (Range Guide)

Green Dragons are a really good way of making money. Their 100% drop of Dragon Bones and Green Dragon Hide, not to mention Loop Half of keys and clue scrolls make killing them very profitable, especially for those with high combat stats. However, every good thing has its disadvantages too...

Set Up
Green Dragons are level 79, although they do not do much damage. However, their dragon fire is really dangerous doing high hits (400+ sometimes) making a anti-dragon shield absolutely necessary or you will face a terrible death (not exaggerating at all!). Personally, i prefer to wear Range Void Armour, because you get higher hits. However, may people prefer to wear black dragon hide armour, because it is cheaper and easier to replace.

The only things that do not change in those setup are: Games Necklace, bolts, anti-dragon shield and ring of kinship, (ring of dulling if you do not have a ring of kinship)
Void Setup

Black Dragon Hide Setup

However, just because i recommend that you wear this armour does not mean you have to wear it. This is from past experience, but feel free to try out your own armour here! Why, maybe even mail me with your setup so i can add it to the guide! (hoplite1234@hotmail.com)

Inventory
Your inventory should look something like this, please feel free to swap the monkfish for your own food, I prefer monkfish because they are fairly cheap and heal a lot. Also, i like to take an Anti-Fire Potion. They might be expensive, but you will not believe how much it cuts down the amount of food you have to eat. You can bring more or less food if you wish, this is just my standard inventory.
Getting There and Killing The Dragons

Use your Games Necklace to teleport to Clan Wars.

This is a simple map to get to the dragons themselves. I prefer the Dragons East of clan wars. Why? because they are easy to get to and they are only in level 20-24 wilderness, meaning you can run south and teleport if you need to.

Now killing the dragons. Just click on them and kill them. There are a number of safespots you can use, saving you food and potions, because there are plenty of rocks and skeletons lying around.

After killing a dragon, pick up the Dragon Bones and Green Dragonhide, and pick any valuable herbs such as grimy rannarrs. Also, pick up clue scrolls and loop half of keys and tooth half of keys, because they reap in a rather good reward too.

After getting a full inventory of your fabulous loot, you can teleport back to Daemonheim with your ring of kinship (or ring of duelling to castle wars or something). Bank your loot, restock your inventory and repeat!

Profits
As i have mentioned before, killing green dragons is very profitable, a good player can make about 600K per hour, now thats a lot! Here is my loot form about an hours worth of killing dragons:

Just slightly less than 600K. However, do not expect to make this much money all the time. There are many factors which affect your kill speed, such as cannons, halfers (players who attack the dragosn until the dragons health is down to half, and leave it for someone else to kill, and they get the loot) and revenants.

Revenants
If a revenant appears, run west to clan wars and hide there until it is gone, or run south and teleport out using your games necklace. If you feel confident in killing the revenant, stay there and kill it, just do not attempt this if you think you can not beat it.

Dying
If you die, there is no reason for you to freak out or panic, just go  to your nearest bank, get a anti-dragon shield or potion and games necklace, run to your grave and pick up your items. This is a good reason why you should kill dragons here. Also, there are always plenty of nice people at the dragons location that will repair or bless your grave should you die.

That is all for now, please feel free to comment and tell me about your thoughts on this guide!

Hey again!

Hi people! I hope you are enjoying my blog, the poll closes soon and i hope you have all voted!

Going Pking With A Clan

Clan Pking, a great way to make new friends and get good loot. PVP Clan Wars are probably the best things about pking clans. However, PVP clans are also dangerous places, people can turn on you in the blink of an eye (Bsers or back stabbers) and kill you if they are frustrated about not getting kills or loot. This guide was written to prepare you for the dangers of PVP Clans

Rule 1 (Picking The Clan)
When picking a clan, pick one with a good reputation for being fair and will not kill you. Even if you join one of these clans, still remain wary of potential bsers. The safest clans are ones where you know the clan members in either real life, or have known for some time.

If you are a clan leader attempting to build up your clan, do not advertise your clan in the world by spamming. Instead, go to the Runescape Forums or other forums and try and find people there. If you are lazy, another way is to go around that pvp world, and ask people if they wish to join your clan. This way, you can pick people who are not likely to kill you or turn against your clan.

Rule 2 (Roles)
A good PVP clan needs to be organized. Many a huge clan have been wiped out by a smaller clan in a clan war, because the smaller clan used tactics and roles, rather than a piling everyone they see. Below are some roles that some clans use:

Porters
These guys are generally 1 itemers that go around carrying food and potions for the rest of their clan. They fill their inventory with food, and give it to clan members when they need them. When out of food, they run to the bank and get more. However, if you are one of these guys, you won't get much loot, so ask your clan leader for a share of the loot.

Binders/ Freezers/ Teleblockers
These guys work around the clock in a clan war. They stop enemies from teleporting or running away in a fight, allowing the rest of the clan to kill the enemy. These guys are generally mages, however, i find hybrids the most suitable for this role, because after freezing an enemy they can join the fray themselves.

Tankers
The Tanker charges first into a battle, wearing the best armour possible and carrying the highest healing foods and prayer potions. His job is to take most of the damage, while the rest of the clan encircle the enemy and kill them off. These guys need serious defence and hitpoint levels.

Scouts/ Lurers
These guys are generally ordinary clan members who wear weight reducing, anti magic armour, because they need to run a lot. Their job is to scout the area ahead of the main body of the clan for enemies or possible ambushes. On the other hand, these guys can also work as lures to lure enemies into ambushes. They require weight reducing armour and lots of food.

Rule 3 (Tactics)
If you are a clan leader, one must study Runescape PVP tactics, such as hiding, luring etc. Tactics are what changes the course of a battle. Brute force can not always win you wars.

Death Dot
A Death Dot is where all the clan members stand on a single spot, so it looks like there is only one person (Must be in a multi zone). A lurer goes and lures the enemy to the clans position. When the enemy look at their minimap, all they will see is a single dot and think "Oh, one dot, nothing to worry about". When they get close, your clan jumps out and massacres them!

Bone Brooches/ Ring of stone
Any thing that allows you to transform into something is always useful. The reward for the 2010 halloween event, the bone brooch, transforms you into a pile of bones. Many people are careless and do not watch the minimap and will not see your dot. All they will see is a pile of bones on the screen. When they get close enough, you unmorph and kill them

Making A Range Tank (P2P)

A P2P Range Tank is more fun and exciting to make and pk with. Awesome P2P weapons are available, meaning higher hits and cooler videos. Better armour means less hits taken. Also, in P2P, countless bosses need to be tanked, meaning you will never be out of a job!

In this guide, I will not go over how you should train your account. Rather, i focus on the Range Tanker itself. I plan to write a Range guide in the future, but for now, search one up on google. Also, if you are new to PVP, i recommend you visit my guide "A Guide To PVP", or if you wish to make a F2P Range Tanker "Making A Range Tanker (F2P)"

(If a Advertisement from adf.ly comes up, wait 5 seconds and click the "Skip Ad" button in the top right hand corner, I am sorry for the inconvenience. These advertisements can be removed if more people donated!)

Stats, Equipment, Inventory and Quest List
A P2P tanker does not differ much from your average F2P tanker. The only major change is the requirement of a mage level, which shall be explained later.

Stats of a P2P Tanker:
99 Range
99 Defence
94 Magic
70 Strength
70 Attack
99 Hitpoints
52 Prayer

Please note, these stats are for a maxed range tanker. If i were you, i would make a 75 defence tanker, since they are a lower combat level (around 90-92) and can fight zerkers and own them.

The Equipment of a P2P Tanker

Helm: Verac's Helm/ Torag's Helm/ Helm of Neizinot
Amulet: Ranging Amulet/ Glory
Cape: Ava's Attractor
Arrows: Dragon Bolts (e) if you can afford them / Runite Bolts
Torso: Karil's Top/ Black Dragon hide body
Legs: Verac's Skirt/ Torag's Legs/ Rune Plate Legs
Boots: Dragon Boots/ Climbing Boots/ Snake Skin Boots

Weapon: Rune Crossbow (other weapons will be explained later)
Shield: Obby Shield/ Granite Shield/ Rune Kiteshield

If you are using a Hand Cannon, use the same armour setup, but replace the cape slot with a Skillcape or some other cape with good bonuses. You will not need a shield (Hand Cannon is wielded in 2 hands). Also, buy Hand Cannon Shots for the ammo.

Please note that some of these items are well expensive, do not risk what you cannot afford to lose. For a guide to PVP itself, please go to my guide  A Guide To PVP

Inventory of a P2P Tanker
1 x Law Rune
5 x Air rune
10 x Dragon Bolts (e)
2 x Morrigan's throwing axe/ javelin
1 x Super Defence Potion
1 x Prayer Potion
1 x Range Potion
Fill the rest of your inventory with Sharks or better foods, i prefer Rocktails, they have saved me dozens of times.

Quest List
For a P2P Tanker, there is 1 quest they must complete, Lunar Diplomacy. This is for the Vengeance spell, which can be cast at 94 magic. I also recommend completing the Fremminik Isles for the Helm of Neitzinot, which one can wear instead of a barrows helm. I also recomend that you complete the quests for Forgivness of the Chaos Dwarf in order to use the Hand Cannon (Big Hits)

Pking with a Hand Cannon
There are a few styles to pking with a hand cannon. The first, more simple one is to just fight with the hand cannon itself. The good thing about this is that you will get really high hits often, so possibly ending a fight after about 5 hits. If you start off with the special, it is possible to kill them in 2 hits. The only problem is that the cannon is rather slow.

The second style is to use a fast, one handed range weapon (Obby Throwing Rings, Rune Knives) while wielding a prayer book in the other hand. When your opponent gets to half health, you swithch to the Hand cannon and use the special to kill them. However, i find this style useless at high level pvp, and is better when fighting with a Hand Cannon Pure (Guide Coming soon!)

The third style i will cover is using a Magic Shortbow and Rune Arrows. When your opponents health is below half, like before switch to your Hand Cannon and kill them. This is better suited for high level pvp, but the switching is hard to perfect, and you may end up screwing up.

And that people, is all i have right now, please visit my website http://hoplite1234.blogspot.com/ every now and then to see new guides!

Making a Range Tank (F2P)

So you have thought about making a Range Tank huh? Well, for those who do not know what they are, here  is a brief explanation:

"Range Tankers are Runescape accounts that are specifically bred for high level pvp (90+). The whole concept of a Tanker is to be able to wear good armour to take hits, while dealing high hits. Range tankers have high defence, wear good armour and usually have 99 range and 94 magic."

There you have it, a definition of a range tank!

Anyway, the stats of a F2P and  a P2P range tankers are not so different, only certain skills such as defence and magic and prayer differ.

A F2P Range Tank is not recommended, since it is hard to get KO's because of the limited weapons. If you plan to stay F2P, i suggest making a range 2h pure, because you can get more kills.

F2P Range Tank's Stats, Inventory, Quests and Setup
A F2P tanker does not really need a high defence, since a high defence will affect its combat level.

A F2P tank's stats should be:

40/45/60 attack (40 for rune, 45 for gravite (45 dungeoneering needed), 60 for corrupt dragon weapons)
99 strength
99 range
45 defence (no need for it to be higher)
45 prayer
1 magic
And your hitpoints should be whatever level you have after training all the other skills

All in all, your combat level should be about 80, depending on your hitpoints.

A F2P Range Tank's Setup should be:
Helm: Rune full helm/green dragon hide coif
Amulet: Strength/Power amulet
Cape: Any cape
Arrows: Adamant arrows
Torso Green dragon hide body / rune chain body (for those who do not complete dragon slayer)
Legs: Rune plate legs / Green dragon hide chaps
Gloves: Green dragon hide vambraces
Ring: Do not bring unless you need the risk.

A F2P Range Tank's Inventory should be:
 1 x Law rune
1 x Fire rune
3 x Air rune
1 x Rune 2h/Gravite 2h/Corrupt dragon weapon
1 x Strength potion
And fill the rest of the inventory with swordfish.

A F2P Range Tank's Quest list should be:
All the F2P Quests, including dragon slayer, unless you do not want to do dragon slayer. In that case, do not bother with quests at all...

Training In F2P
Now here comes the boring part, actually training your skills. Since you are F2P, your training grounds are rather limited.

>>Range<<
Well, training range in F2P is hard, because you use up a lot of arrows, therefore, i recommend you do the Blood Pact quests, so you can get a sling, which does not use up any arrows, making training a hell lot cheaper.

1-20 Range
Kill chickens in the chicken place just south of beefy bills field. If that place is full (of bots!), then go west a bit until you see a pond with ducks on it and around it. Kill those ducks.

21-40 Range
Go to the minatours in stronghold level 1 and using the sling, train your range, remember to bring some food!

41-60 Range
For this long stretch, you should buy lots of bronze arrows and a maple shortbow, and head to the hill giants in the edgeville dungeon. Kill them, bury the bones to get prayer exp

61-99 Range
Now here comes the seriously boring part, here, you should buy lots of bronze/iron arrows and go and kill flesh crawlers in stronghold level 2, or kill giant spiders in stronghold level 3. I know this will take ages, but believe me, it is the fastest way in F2P. Either that or become member!

>>Defence/Strength/Attack<<
Training these skills uses the same places as training range, just this time, wear your best melee armour and buy the best scimitar you can wield and set your attack mode to the skill you want to train

>>Prayer<<
When training all the other skills, remember to pick up the bones and bury them, if you do this, you will end up with 45 prayer without realizing it!

A guide to fighting in PVP

Pvp, probably the funnest thing to do in runescape, whether it be f2p or p2p pvp. You enjoy it when your opponents die and you can get good loot! Nothing can be compared to pvp...

As my friend Alex once said:
"Pvp is about enjoying yourself in competition with other runescape players, the winners are the ones who get the most kill and the most drops. It's about meeting new people in new places, it's also a good way to waste time when you are bored"

Or as my friend Marcel would put it:
"Pvp is about raping other people and getting good loot!"

Anyway, this guide is not about making a good pure or whatever, its about the fighting in pvp, the tips and tricks that will help you survive and kill people.

Rule 1 (Have the right skills!)
There is no point going to pvp without the right skills, you would get murdered in seconds! Many people go to pvp worlds with really low skills, skills that can be their undoing! Before going to pvp, go to the duel arena and fight against people your level with food and potions. Count how many you win and lose. Then ask yourself: "Am i ready for pvp?" If the answer is no, read some guides on how to get your skills higher, but don't go to pvp unless you think you are ready!

Rule 2 (Wear the appropriate armour and weapons)
If you have a lot of money and willing to risk things such as verac's skirt and helm, or expensive things like that, do it! If you wear good armour, you have a larger chance of surviving a fight and a bigger chance of killing your opponent! If you wear cheap armour, which does not have as good a bonus as expensive armour, then you might die more often and lose more money than you would had you worn good, expensive armour.

Ever watched those pker's on youtube, the ones wearing ahrim's robes and carrying dragon fire shields? They wear good (but expensive) armour and what happens? they survive and get good loot!

As the SAS put it "Who dares Wins!'

Rule 3 (Fight with your xp bar open!)
Many pkers find it easy to KO people because they can roughly calculate their next hit by using the xp bar. . By using the xp bar, one can estimate their next hit, and decide whether one should use the special attack yet. This is because you see the amount of xp you gain a good second before you hit your opponent!

The way to work out hits roughly is: Amount of xp gained*2 (NOTE: This is only a rough estimate of your hit, but you switch to your special weapon when you get 300XP or more!)

Rule 4 (Hotkeys)
Although i am mentioning hotkeys in my guide, i am generally not a big fan of hotkeys... this is because i find it unfair because it gives you a huge advantage over an opponent without hotkeys.

What the hell are hotkeys?
you might be wondering what on earth a hotkey is, well, let me explain it simply. A hotkey is a key you press on your keyboard, which when you press, executes a certain command which you tell it to do. In other words, a hot key is when you program a certain key on your keyboard to do something else. Hotkeys are not limited to runescape, they can be used in other things too!

Any way, hot keys give you a huge advantage in pvp, imagine being able to kill an opponent with a few taps of your keyboard, no more moving your mouse around like a maniac! With hot keys, you can program it to click at pre-defined points at the press of a button. That way, one can make amazing switches!

The simplest hotkey in Runescape is pressing the "F5" button in game. This will take you to the combat options menu (with the special attack bar) so all you have to do is click the special attack bar.

A good hot key program is "Auto Hotkey" i will not give you instructions on how to use it, there are plenty of guides out there that tell you what to do.

Rule 5 (Constant Vigilance!)

From: Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire
"Constant Vigilance!" Moody Growled!
In other words, always be aware of your surroundings. You never know where a rusher may be hiding. Many people die because they are not aware that they are standing in a danger zone, or are in a dangerous multi zone. When wondering about in deep wild in a pvp world, always keep one eye on the minimap. Also, when passing teleport areas (Places where you can teleport to via runes, tablets, enchanted jewellery and obelisks) have your mouse hovering on either the log out button or a teleport (log out button for deep wild) because in the blink of an eye, someone could teleport there and attack you.

This happened one time:
Me and my friend were wondering around in deep wild in w18. As we passed an obelisk, i told my friend: "careful mate, hand on logout button". My friend said okay and we continued to walk. As we walked past a clan suddenly teleported to that obelisk and were well within our combat range. I immediately logged out using the log out button. My friend, who did not realize what was happening, got attacked (He later escaped via the obelisk, but he was very lucky)
Which shows why you need to be aware of your surroundings at all times

Rule 6 (Drop Eating)
Although i will mention this tactic in this guide, i disapprove of this tactic of fighting, because again, it gives you a huge advantage over an opponent.

The "Drop Eating" tactic is pretty simple, in theory. When you and your opponent have agreed to fight, go to the place you are going to fight and suddenly say "Wait! I need to get my:____". As you type, drop about 10-15 sharks or rocktails or other foods on the floor. Then go back to the bank, restock your inventory with food and go back.

When you go back, say: "Sorry, Good Luck!" and begin fighting. As you begin to run out of food, pickup the food you dropped earlier and continue to eat. This way, assume you dropped 15 sharks and carried 18 in your inventory, you would end up with 33 sharks in total, which might be twice as much food as someone who carries it in their inventory

Rule 7 The Battle Field (Be aware of certain natural elements, rocks, trees etc.)
You might think: "What the hell is this guy on about? Battle fields?" Well, i can assure you this will help you in battle, especially if you are a ranger or mager. It could also help you escape if you are rushed or piled.

Before beginning a fight, look around you. Note how deep in wildy you are, whether it's a multi zone or not (Very important, someone could pile you if you are in multi zone) and things like that. You should also note whether there are things like trees and other objects you have to walk around, because they can be an advantage in battle. If you are a ranger/mager, and you are fighting a melee opponent, run towards the trees, shooting spells/bolts back at your opponent. Due to the fact melee must be fought at a close range, the trees are an effective way to hide and avoid damage from your opponent, while hurting your opponent at the same time.

When trying to escape from someone in pvp, trees can also be very effective, as you can dodge through while clicking your log out button at the same time. Doors are also pretty good. When you run into a safezone after a fight, run to your nearest door and close it. If your opponent trys to open it, close it again, so you waste the 10 second timer! Running up and down ladders and staircases achieves the same results.
